MAZDOOR MITRA: Fulfilling our Social Obligations towards the Society

During the initial days of the COVID-19 Pandemic, migrant workers were facing many challenges to reach their homes. In order to help these stranded migrants reach their homes, the Centre announced the launch of its website “www.mazdoormitra.info”. The aim of the portal was to provide easy access to all the government and non-government information for the stranded migrant workers in times of crisis at one place. Inter alia, the site also contained essential particulars such as the helpline numbers issued by various state governments, information of relief centres, social organizations which distribute ration, food to the people in trouble and etc. The Centre even helped the labourers in getting e-passes which became a tall order for them due to technical difficulties.

This initiative of ours made a nationwide impact and helped many migrants in the time of crisis, and was so successful that it got featured on various media platforms such as All India Radio, NDTV Prime Time, DD Madhya Pradesh, Bar & Bench and SCC etc. which interviewed our then Core Members for getting more insights of it and also helped us in reaching masses in the remotest corners of the country. The team’s month-long effort bore fruit and we were able to help more than 200 migrants in reaching their homes.
